The Republican Primary Election will define the Republican Party in Alabama for years to come. At stake are real American values, lower taxes, less regulation, reduced Federal spending, smaller government, State’s Rights and the Constitution of the United States.

The differences between me and my opponent, Spencer Bachus, could not be more obvious. I have always been a true conservative Republican and I have never wavered from the American values that has shaped that political philosophy. Mr. Bachus on the other hand has a 20 year record in Congress of claiming to be a conservative but voting like a liberal democrat. 4. Serve America Act - Cost To Tax-payers - $6 Billion Dollars The bill reauthorizes and expands the AmeriCorps program first established in 1993. Gives President Obama major control of the funding and organizational structure of the AmeriCorps volunteer program. Bachus co-sponsored the bill and voted for it.

5. Car Allowance Rebate System [Cash for Clunkers] Cost to Tax-payers - $3 Billion Dollars. A Federal scrapping program intended to provide economic incentives to U.S. residents to purchase a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle when trading in a less fuel-efficient vehicle. The program was promoted as providing stimulus to the economy by boosting auto sales, while putting safer, cleaner and more fuel-efficient vehicles on the roadways. Spencer Bachus Voted for this bill.

6. Education For All Act (2007) Cost to Tax-payers - $3 Billion Dollars

The Education For All Act would improve facilities, train teachers, provide lunch programs and empower foreign countries that are placing a priority on education. Money given to poor nations and not to education programs in the United States.

Spencer Bachus co-sponsored this bill with Senators Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Gordon Smith (R-OR) and Representatives Nita Lowey (D-NY).

The United States of America was established on principles that support the welcoming of new residents to our country based on the ideals used by the Founding Fathers when establishing this nation over 200 years ago.

Over the last several decades, the United States’ immigration policy has become corrupted due to politics, and it falsely represents an uncompromising decision between unfettered immigration and no immigration at all. Amnesty is not the solution.

As your next Congressman, I will work to implement a new immigration policy for solving illegal immigration and establishing conservative guidelines for legal immigration.

New Immigration Policy:

  • 1. Close all borders.
  • 2. Use the military or national guard to protect the borders and sea ports.
  • 3. Deport all illegal aliens.
  • 4. No “anchor babies.”
  • 5. Establish yearly numerical limits.
  • 6. Establish a priority policy based on country of origin.
  • 7. Establish a priority policy based on age, gender, education and skills.
  • 8. All immigrants must go through the naturalization process which would include the requirement of renouncing other citizenship, renouncing voting rights in another country, require learning English and passing a test on American history in English.
  • 9. No one with a criminal record would be allowed into the country.
  • 10. Establish a temporary education / high value worker visa program with time and renewal limits.
  • 11. English will be the national language of education and government.
  • 12. It shall be illegal and enforced for any person, business or government to hire an illegal alien.
  • 13. It shall be illegal to sell or rent property to illegal aliens.
  • 14. It shall be illegal to issue credit cards, money transfers, saving accounts or checking accounts to illegal aliens.
  • 15. Cut off all federal aid to any city, county or state that refuses to investigate if a criminal is here illegally.
  • 16 The States should establish laws that recognize official State Citizenship.

 Manufacturing & Production Jobs Needed For Alabama’s 6th District

The Preamble to the United States Constitution states - “ We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” - 

As a part of that mission statement for the nation, it is recognized that the government should create positive, pro-capitalistic economic conditions that will promote the growth of private enterprise, large corporations and small businesses that will in turn provide jobs for the American people. While it is not the job of the Federal Government to create jobs - a responsible Federal Government will eliminate regulations and reduce taxes that will allow for economic development.

In the 6th District of Alabama, the number of manufacturing & production jobs is on the decline. Not one manufacturing job increase has been realized in this district over the last 16 years - almost the same amount of time that Spencer Bachus has been in office.

K.A. Turner, reporter for the Manufacturers’ News, states that manufacturing employment in Alabama sank 4.5 percent between March 2008 and March 2009. [This loss increased to 5.8 percent by October 2009]

The state lost 15,479 industrial jobs and 108 manufacturers in the 12-month period. The publisher said it was the steepest drop it had ever reported. The firm has been surveying industry since 1912. The survey found that Alabama has 6,057 manufacturers employing 329,904 workers.

Southeast Alabama accounts for nearly half of the state’s decline, losing 11 percent of its manufacturing employment or 7,313 jobs, the survey revealed. Southwest Alabama is currently home to 43,947 jobs, down 6 percent. Losses were especially felt in the lumber industry.

The publisher reported that Birmingham [and the 6th District] is the state’s leader in manufacturing employment, and is currently home to 37,198 jobs - but this is down 7 percent over the last 12 months.    The 6th District has lost 30,000 manufacturing and/or production jobs over the last 16 years and nothing has been done to replace those jobs.

I believe that the 6th Congressional District can be the “economic engine” of the State of Alabama. This vision can be accomplished by doing the following:

1- Elect true conservative leadership to Congress 

2- Reduce the size of the Federal Government 

3- Eliminate corporate taxes, capital gains taxes and taxes on business investment

4- Eliminate burdensome regulations 

5- Rebuild the District’s infrastructure 

6- Recruit manufacturers to relocate or expand to the 6th District

If elected to be your next Congressman, I promise to be an active recruiter of manufacturing jobs for the District; I promise to market the 6th District to national and global corporations; and, I promise to work to get “Big Government” out of the way of the great people of Alabama so that they can do what they do best - work, create and invent the answers that will solve the nation’s problems.

 Dear Friends,

 The New Year is here and we look forward to the Primary in June of 2010.  The next few months will be filled with campaign activities that are designed to reclaim the 6th Congressional District for true American Values.

 As we begin this process of taking back our government from professional politicians, reducing the government to it’s proper size, and charting a new course for taxation, education, and fiscal responsibility - I want to pledge to you the following:

 When elected:

  1.   I will always vote to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

2.      I will always vote to limit the Federal Government to the established Enumerated Powers of the Constitution.

3.      I will never vote to raise taxes.

4.      I will never vote to expand the size, role or function of the Federal Government.

5.      I will vote to protect and defend our national borders.

6.      I will vote for legislation to secure the Energy Independence of the United States.

7.      I will work to overturn all legislation that is unconstitutional and all Federal Government agencies/departments that are unconstitutional.

8.      I will work to overturn all unconstitutional gun bans and regulations.

9.      I will support and vote for the Fair Tax Amendment.

10.   I will support and vote for Term Limits.

11.   I will support and vote for Pro Life legislation.

12.   I will always support our Military.

13.   I will vote to dissolve the Federal Reserve and restore the function of the Department of Treasury as detailed by the U.S. Constitution.

14.  I will vote to stop the United States support of the United Nations.

Since early April I have been meeting with voters throughout the 6th Congressional District of Alabama and sharing the many reasons that I am running for the U.S. House of Representatives.

I am as upset as you are with bank bailouts, trillion dollar stimulus plans, government-controlled healthcare, over regulation and high taxes. Our federal and local governments are out of control, and our current representatives are much to blame.  For this reason, I am offering the voters of District 6 a real choice for change in the 2010 election! 

I am not a career politician nor am I a government employee.  I want to use my 31 years of experience as a successful administrator, small business owner and civic leader to bring real change in the right direction to the 6th Congressional District. Open Letter To You.

America is at a crisis point. Our national future is at stake. Our country, as we have known it, is in jeopardy. Never before in the history of civilized governments has one nation faced so many obstacles as we do today. We Are Over Taxed - Over Regulated and Under Represented.

Freedom and Liberty are being challenged by the evils of socialism and the constraints of big government. It is time that we realize that an out-of-control, extremely inflated, over regulating, tax-and-spend Big Government that is led by Republicans is just as wrong and evil as one led by the Democrats.

We have always known that the Democratic Party stood for socialist policies, entitlement programs at the expense of working families, high taxes and the destruction of the concept of American Exceptionalism. BUT WHAT we did not expect was that the Republican Party in this century would be just as bad.

Conservatives have always counted on the Republican Party to be the “STOP GAP” in Congress against the actions of the Democrats - but now we realize after reviewing the voting record of people like Spencer Bahcus, Olympia Snow, and Arlen Specter and the rest of the moderate wing of the current Republican Party that they are just as bad as the liberal democrats.

We are headed down a slippery slope to a centralized-socialistic government - one that our Founding Fathers never intended - one that will destroy the rights of the American people - the rights of our States and the United States of America. Each step that we take towards making Big Government the Caretaker of our lives, we move that much closer in making that Government our Master.” - We Can Do Better.

We use to be a nation of We The People - a Government by the People and for the People - But Now - thanks to people like Mr. Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Maxine Waters and Spencer Bachus - it is a Government by the Few and For only the Few.

Our Founding Fathers warned us about time such as this.

Allow me to share with you some facts to consider:

  • 1. Today - according to the Heritage Foundation and the Cato Institute we are 12 Trillion Dollars in debt
  • 2. 307 Million people in the United States
  • 3. So Each citizens debt is currently $39,000.00 in taxes to the federal government
  • 4. Our National Debt Increases by 3.75 Billion Dollars Each Day
  • 5. in 2004 our Tax Burden was ¼ our National Income
  • 6. in 2009 our Tax Burden is 1/3 of our National Income
  • 7. In 2008 The Federal Government collected 2.52 Trillion Dollars in Taxes
  • 8. In 2008 it spent 2.98 Trillion - a deficit of 455 Billion
  • 9. 37 cents of each dollar per person is owed to the Federal Government
  • 10. We have only balanced the budget 3 times in the last 39 years
  • 11. Our National Debt is 1.4 times larger than all of the combined debt of the nations of the world.

We cannot continue down this path of destruction. It is time for new leadership in Washington and for the 6th Congressional District of Alabama.

 We must remember that our freedoms are just one generation away from extinction. We cannot pass our freedoms and liberties to our children in the blood stream. They must be defended, protected, and handed down to the next generation… to do the same. If not, we will spend our remaining years telling our grandchildren what it was like in the United States of America where people once were free.

I’m asking you for your support and your vote. Together, we the people can take back our government from professional politicians and reduce it to the proper size. We can chart a new course for taxation, education, and fiscal responsibility. We must protect our Constitution and defend our borders. We must set the American people free - to work, invent and create the opportunities that will solve this crisis. Everything that is currently wrong with our Government can be solved by everything that is right with the great American people.

Bachus Spends Billions on Global Poverty Act

Spencer Bachus introduced Barak Obama’s “Global Poverty Act” to the U.S. House that would require the United States to pay $845 Billion of tax payer money to the United Nations in support of global poverty.

This was House Bill #HR1302. Obama’s Global Poverty Act passed the House and if it passes the Senate it will cost you - the tax payer almost 1 Trillion Dollars!

Spencer Bachus admitted that he introduced and voted for the bill in a letter to a voter in the 6th Congressional District and that he was proud to do so. He said that spending this money would enhance the image of the United States in the world and help fight terrorism.

This $845 Billion Dollar program will be added to the $16 Billion Dollar-A-Year program for global poverty already being funded by the USA.
Spencer Bachus voted for that $16 Billion Dollar expense as well.

Congressman Spencer Bachus receives almost 1.5 million dollars a year in campaign contributions. Over 80% of that money comes from outside of his District [the 6th Congressional District of Alabama] and from outside of his State.

The 6-Term, 17 year incumbent is known for playing the stock market, taking money from the big foreign owned banks and putting his assets under his wife’s name in the attempt to hide what he is doing.

Open Secrets states - Although Bachus’ personal funds may have slipped a little in 2008 compared to 2007, the recession certainly didn’t hit his bank account as severely as it did those of many Americans. In 2008, Bachus was worth between $468,000 and $1.5 million. (Because lawmakers report the value of their investments in ranges, it is impossible to determine their exact wealth.) Bachus’ assets included between $1,000 and $15,000 in Citigroup, between $1,000 and $16,000 in Fidelity Investments and between $100,001 to $250,000 in a Smith Barney IRA. Since 2005, when he reported 25 financial transactions, he’s been much more active, clocking 367 total transactions in 2008. Nearly all of these transactions involved him selling assets.Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., the ranking Banking Committee member, lists just one major asset: a $100,000-$250,000 rental home in Birmingham. But he reported significant assets in his wife’s name, including retirement accounts and annuities worth between $350,000 and $750,000, mutual funds worth $100,000-$250,000, and an investment in a real estate entity worth $100,000-$250,000. Those investments yielded as much as $100,000 in capital gains and rental income in 2007 - and that is just the beginning.

 

One year after the biggest economic collapse since the Great Depression, Congress is still debating new financial regulations to protect consumers and prevent risk-taking in the financial sector. The House Committee on Financial Services is currently undertaking the important first step of writing, amending and voting on some of the pieces of the long-proposed financial regulatory reform. While debating these issues top committee members have been the recipients of disproportionate campaign contributions from the very industry that they are tasked with regulating.

 Twenty-seven committee members have so far received over one-quarter of their contributions from the finance, insurance and real estate (FIRE) sector. This includes Chair Barney Frank, Ranking Member Spencer Bachus, four subcommittee chairs and four subcommittee ranking members. Of the twenty-seven, twelve committee members received over 35% of their contributions in 2009 from the FIRE sector. Finance - Insurance - Real Estate

Ranking Member Bachus, a crucial decision maker on the committee, received 71% of his campaign contributions from the finance, insurance and real estate (FIRE) sector so far this year. (These numbers run from January 1-June 30.) For his career, the Alabama congressman receives 45% of his contributions from the FIRE sector. Bachus leads the committee in his reliance on FIRE sector campaign contributions.
