Spencer Bachus voted for the Serve America Act - HR 1388 - which is President Obama’s socialistic program expansion of Americorps.
Remember when Mr. Bachus complained about there being 17 Socialist in Congress? Maybe he counted himself.
The Serve America Act is the program that many people are claiming that Obama is using to turn America’s youth into a “brown shirt movement” similar to Adolf Hitler’s youth movement in Germany.
Spencer Bachus again votes like a liberal democrat while he talks like a Republican - RINO.
Here are some facts about the Serve America Act that will show you the true nature of Spencer Bachus - and why he should be voted out of office.
On March 18, the House of Representatives voted 321-105 to pass the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, and the Senate is expected quickly to follow suit. The Serve Act more than triples the number of slots for AmeriCorps members from 75,000 to 250,000. And it takes a giant step toward expanding Washington’s power to make “service” compulsory for all young Americans.
President Obama praises AmeriCorps for embodying “the best of our nation’s history, diversity and commitment to service.” In reality, AmeriCorps’s essence is paying people on false pretenses to do unnecessary things.
Since President Clinton created the program in 1993, politicians of both parties have endlessly touted its recruits as volunteers toiling selflessly for the common good. But the average AmeriCorps member receives more than $15,000 a year in pay and other benefits, and almost 90 percent go on to work for government agencies or nonprofit groups. Rather than financial martyrdom, signing up for AmeriCorps is, for many, akin to a paid internship.
Congressional Budget Office estimates S 277 would cost over $6.1 billion dollars over the 2010-2014 period.
Programs funded under National Community Service Act of 1990 (NCSA) and the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973 (DVSA) received appropriations of $1.1 billion for fiscal year 2009, including $200 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
..otherwise known as the PORKULUS/SPENDULUS Bill that passed that NO ONE in Congress read.
Taxpayers would fund international opportunities too. Volunteering abroad and US worker will pay for it.
Finally, S. 277 would authorize the appropriation of $10 million a year through 2014 for a “Volunteers for Prosperity” program at USAID. The program would award grants to fund opportunities for volunteering internationally in coordination with eligible organizations.
Congressional Budget Office estimates that implementing programs with specified authorizations would cost $2.6 billion over the 2010 - 20 14 period, assuming appropriation of the specified amounts for 2010 and adjusting those amounts in subsequent years for anticipated inflation when no specific authorization exists.
Again, Bachus votes like a liberal democrat. We just cannot afford another 2 years of Spencer Bachus.
