Campaign Finance Reform
Campaign Finance Reform Is Needed
McCain Feingold is a disaster. The very set of circumstances that it was supposed to prevent has been made worse. The corruption of political campaigns has increased and the power of incumbents has grown stronger. From the date that McCain-Feingold was signed into law until now, more Conservative-Republicans have been defeated and more liberal-Democrats have been elected.
Both Republican and Democrat law makers have become money making machines [cash cows] for their respective parties which allows these politicians to support their “friendly groups” back home - and in turn, it buys them political protection from election to election from any and all challengers.
This is my proposal for true campaign finance reform.
1. House of Representatives - A member of the House of Representatives or a candidate running for a District Seat should only be able to receive donations from individuals or businesses that have an physical address in that same District. No donations could be received from any person or business from outside of the District.
2. U.S. Senate - A member of the Senate or a candidate running for a Senate Seat should only be able to receive donations from individuals or businesses that have an physical address in that State. No donations could be received from any person or business from outside of that State.
3. All third party group donations [such as PACS or bundled donations] would be illegal. Political Party support could only be given for general elections.
