Full Support Of The Fair Tax System
According to the original intent of the Constitution, one of only few things that the Federal Government reserved the right to tax was for the support of national defense. We read in the Preamble the following - “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Providing for the common defense in today’s terminology means a strong military, secured borders and a federally maintained interstate highway system.
All other authority for taxation should be reserved to the States according the 10th Amendment. The Fair Tax proposal is currently the only option that recognizes the constitutional limitations placed on the Federal Government and the authority that is given to the State governments.
Until a version of the Fair Tax is passed with constitutional provisions and as an Amendment - the following must take place: the Reagan Tax cut plans of the 1980’s should be adopted again; corporate taxes, the marriage penalty tax, and Unified Gift and Estate Tax must be eliminated. These are just a few things that can be done while working to pass a Fair Tax Amendment.
